Hi! My name is Jean-Marc or JM, I am a provisional psychologist working in Melbourne (Naarm) and a member of AIPA, IAHA and AES.
I am a proud Kabi Kabi Aboriginal and Australian South Sea Islander man. I have spent much of my academic and professional career working with young people in child protection and researching how Western therapy can be adapted to better support First Nations young men. I like to bring elements of holistic, collectivist and Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) frameworks into therapy and blend them with Western therapeutic perspectives to support people of all identities.
I have spent time working in cultural safety and trauma informed care as well as professional cultural safety evaluation and organisational racism. I believe in creating a safe space for sharing and collaborating to foster strong therapeutic relationships and support better mental health outcomes for my clients.
