All financial counselling services are the same across the board because they're government-funded—not private services—so every client has equal access.
Clients can speak with a financial counsellor for as long as needed—whether that’s a single 1-hour session or multiple sessions—until their situation is resolved.
Financial counselling is completely free and confidential, and can be done online or in person. It includes support with:
- Understanding your financial goals
- Budgeting and money management strategies
- Tips for saving and reducing debt
- Help with managing everyday expenses or unexpected financial changes
- Assistance (if needed) with applying for hardship support, grants, or negotiating solutions like loan consolidation
What financial counsellors can’t do:
- Provide financial or investment advice
- Offer legal advice
- Manage assets on your behalf
